Weekly reading logs are due tomorrow.  Remember we do not have school on Friday.  It is a teacher Training Day.

We are learning a new song for our First Reconciliation Rite of Enrollment on Sunday, September 11th at 4:00 P.M.  Your child and one parent will have to attend this meeting.  It usually only takes one hour.  The children will be receiving the books we will be working in for preparation of First Reconciliation.

Tonight's homework is a math paper and copy their new spelling words.  The children should bring there spelling notebook back to school tomorrow.  We will have a quiz in spelling on Wednesday and a test on Thursday.  Remember that we do not have school this Friday.

Some of the children are bringing their August Journal home to finish today's work in it.

Week 2 is over already.  We had a great week.  We are getting used to each other and adjusting very nicely.  Since there is no school on next Friday, the children's weekly reading log will be due on Thursday, September 1. 

Remember that school pictures are Monday.  The children do not have to wear their uniforms, but they need to bring gym uniforms to change into after we have our pictures taken. 

Perhaps you have heard we have some lima beans that have taken root and even some that have leaves.  Everyone is pretty excited about the plants.

Homework tonight is an alphabetical  order paper.  They should also study their spelling words for another spelling test on Friday.  Weekly reading logs are due on Friday.

The children will have a spelling test tomorrow over Unit 1 words.  Some of the children are bringing home the picture of their family that they need to finish for Religion.

Please remember that the children are not to come into the primary building before 7:20 A.M. each morning.  If they arrive early, they are to go to the office.

One week completed and we seem to be getting into the swing of things.  We are reviewing beginning, middle, and ending sounds and vowel sounds.  We have also been talking about the life cycle of a frog and the life cycle of plants.  We are watching some bean seeds start to break open and sprout. We have also made an interesting looking frog which will come home next week.  We will be giving presentations to some of the other classes on what we are learning.

Tonight's homework is a spelling paper. Some of the children have  a writing paper to finish also.  We will not be having a spelling test this week.  We will be using the same words next week and I will let you know when the test is happening.
Tomorrow the Eighth graders will be selling ice cream for $.50 after each lunch period.  The money will be used for their Washington D.C. trip later this year.
Sometimes the temperature in our room gets chilly in the afternoon.  Please send a sweatshirt or sweater with your child if they are complaining about the cold temperature in the room.

We seem to be off to a great start.  If you did not make it to Back-to-School night you should have received the handout from your child.  If you did not receive it email me at pnorman@holyspirit-indy.org  and I will send one home. 
We have gym class on Monday and Wednesday.  The children are to wear their gym clothes to school on Mondays and Wednesdays.  In the winter just have them put on sweatpants and sweatshirts over their gym uniforms.
Tonight the children have a math paper to finish for homework.
