CONGRATULATIONS TO JOSEPH, REAGAN, MITCHELL, ANDY, ROSA, BRIANNA, ALEXIS, ZACH, HAYDEN, TY, ISABEL, AND ETHAN !!  These children completed their October reading logs each week and got them in on time.  They will each receive a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.  Super job!!!
Tonight's homework is to copy the spelling words once and then bring their spelling notebook back to scshool tomorrow.

Monday the Halloween party will be from 1- 2:15 PM.  The children are to bring their costumes to school and we will change into them right before the party.
Remember that the children are not to wear  uniform shorts anymore after fall break. Please make sure on gym days that they have long sweatpants over their gym shorts. We go out to recess everyday at 10:35.  It is still pretty chilly at that time on some days.  The heat of the day does not happen until 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon.

Homework tonight is their reading log.  This will be turned in on Wednesday.
Because we will be here until noon without lunch tomorrow, the children can bring a snack to eat in the late morning.

Sr. Joann asked me to remind you that the "Love Letters"  to your child for the First Reconciliation retreat are due in the religious ed. office on Monday, Oct. 24.  Your child is bringing home a reminder also.
The children did an excellent job at our Mass this morning.  I think they all enjoyed having a part in it.
Since next week is a very short week we will not be having a new spelling lesson.  There will be no tests.  We will work in class on words that have given us trouble so far this year.  The children, however, will be responsible for a weekly reading log that will be due on Wednesday, October 26.

Homework tonight is a spelling paper dealing with er, ir, ur, and or words.  The children will also have a spelling quiz tomorrow and ,of course, should be working on their weekly reading log.

Tomorrow is Tuesday and the children need to have their First Reconciliation books here at school for our 6th lesson.
Homework tonight is to copy their spelling words to have at home to study and they have a noun paper to finish.  They can always work on their reading log.

HELP!!!! Thursday I had 7 children that did not turn in their spelling homework.  Today I had 5 children that did not turn in their weekly reading log. This is the start of some very bad habits.  The children need to realize the importance of their school work.  Any help that you can give me with this will be appreciated.
This coming Friday is our Mass that we will be doing.  It starts at 8:30.  Please come and join us if you can.  We will be the only class in church.
Thursday, October 20 will be our 2nd field trip.  We will be going to Eagle Creek Park. The children need to bring a lunch in a sack - no lunch boxes please.  They can wear play clothes and please be sure they are dressed for the weather as we will be outside part of the time.

WE GOT TO BE PART OF AN ATTEMPT TO SET A QUINESS WORLD RECORD.  IT WAS OVER 1700 ADULTS AND CHILDREN DOING THE STOP, DROP, AND ROLL TODAY AT OUR FIELD TRIP.  CHECK OUT FOX NEWS TONIGHT.  THEY WERE THERE.

Tonight's homework is to study spelling and a spelling paper dealing with adding endings.  The children should also be working on their reading log. 

For our firefighters field trip this Thursday I will need you to sign a second permission slip.  The firefighter insist on their own permission slip.  The children are bringing it home tonight.

A great big THANK YOU to all the parents that volunteered to go on our October 20th field trip.  Deangelo's mom and Isabel's mom were the two who were chosen by a blind draw this morning to be our chaperones.  That day we will be leaving Holy Spirit at 9:10 and returning at 2:00.  Everyone will need to bring a sack lunch and the children will be dressed in play clothes and dressed for the weather as we will be outside part of the day.

I am sending home your child's benchmark testing results tonight.  Please ask them for the results.
Also coming home with some of the children is a reading that they will be doing in Mass on Friday, October 21.  Everyone in the class has something to do in the Mass that day.  If your child doesn't have a reading then they are doing something else like taking up a gift.

TWO FIELD TRIPS - I am not trying to confuse you, but the 2nd grade will be going on 2 field trips in October.  We have the opportunity to go on a FREE field trip sponsored by the Indianapolis fire Department.  It will be October 13th.  The children are bringing home the permission slip tonight.  Please sign it and return it as soon as possible.  The other field trip is to Eagle Creek for a Nature Study day.  Please have the money and the permission slip for that one in on Friday, October 7. 

Homework tonight is a math paper and a paper on active listening that the children need your help on.  They also have their reading log which is due on Friday.

The children have a spelling game to play with mom, dad or an older sibling.  It is about homophones.  It does not have to be brought back to school.  If you cannot get to it tonight it is OK.  They are bringing their Reconciliation book home tonight to do the home session of  lesson 4.  Please have the books back by next Tuesday.  The children should also study their Unit 6 spelling words tonight.

TOMORROW IS TUESDAY.  WE WILL BE WORKING IN OUR PURPLE RECONCILIATION BOOKS.  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHILD HAS THEIR BOOK AT SCHOOL TOMORROW.

Homework tonight is to copy and practice their new spelling words and a math paper where they must make up 10 equations that equal 13.
